Townhouse

The ambitious townhouse in Notting Hill encapsulates the design aspiration of a Client influenced by Japanese and Belgian architecture and art. Re-modernising and giving the property a new lease of life as a long-term family home staged around hand-sourced objects and art has been the main aim of the project. A previously run-down property is currently in construction stage, completely remodelling the internal layout, rear elevation, constructing a new extension to Ground and Lower Ground Floor and a wellness quarter in the new basement. Located within a Conservation Area, the project demonstrates curated nature of meticulously designed space and attention to executing such projects from concept to completion.

Project issues: Conservation area planning, request for a new basement; disorganised and chaotic rear elevation and garden, neglected through different previous occupants; main staircase which seems back-of-house, changes shape and form on upper floors; is dark

Solutions: Strategic approach to planning - 3 separate Applications; new, symmetrical rear elevation to respond to new internal layout, maximise daylight and create a bright home-office; new main curved staircase
